This school is located over in Chhaya, which is a part of Porbandar that most locals are familiar with. We’ve been operating at this address for a long time, mostly focusing on providing a place for girls in the community to get their education. It’s not a huge campus, but it has everything needed for the day-to-day lessons. When you walk by, you’ll usually hear the sound of classes going on or the bell ringing for break time. Porbandar is a coastal town, so the air feels a certain way, and we get the sea breeze sometimes depending on the season. The building itself has seen many groups of students pass through its doors over the decades. We handle the usual administrative tasks in the small office near the entrance. Most of us who work here live nearby, so we know the families and the local shops in the area. It’s a quiet place for the most part, except for when school lets out and everyone is heading home to Chhaya. We don’t have any big slogans or fancy displays out front. It’s just Smt K B Joshi Kanya Vidyalaya, sitting right where it’s always been. We try to keep the place tidy, though with so many kids around, there’s always something that needs fixing or painting.
