St Karen's Secondary School

Over here on Khagaul Road in the Danapur Cantt area of Patna, things stay pretty busy. We are a secondary school, so we deal with older students who are getting ready for their exams and figuring out what comes next. The building has been part of this neighborhood for a long time. You can hear the traffic from the road during the day, but once you’re inside the classrooms, it’s mostly just the sound of teachers talking and pens scratching on paper. We have a set schedule that we follow every day. It starts early and ends in the afternoon. The staff room is usually full of notebooks that need grading. We don’t have any big marketing team or anything like that. We just have people who know how to teach. The playground gets dusty during the summer, but the kids don’t seem to mind much. Patna can get really hot, so we try to keep the rooms as cool as we can. It’s a practical place. We focus on the subjects that need to be covered. Parents come by to talk about their children’s progress, and we sit down and have those conversations. It’s just how we run things. Nothing too complicated, just a school doing its part on this side of town. We’ve seen many groups of students pass through these halls over the years, and it always feels a bit quiet when the final bell rings for the summer break.
