Sheikhpura is where we are located. It is a big place, the Indira Gandhi Institute Of Medical Sciences. You see people coming in from all over the region, some looking tired and others just trying to find their way through the gates. It is a medical spot, so there is that specific smell in the air, you know the one. Antiseptic and floor cleaner. The hallways are long and sometimes it feels like a maze if you are not used to walking through them. We have doctors and nurses walking fast, always looking like they have somewhere important to be. There are benches lined up in the waiting areas where people sit for hours. It is not a five-star hotel. It is a place for people who need help with their health. We deal with a lot of paperwork and files every single day. Sometimes the lines are long and the fans just hum overhead without doing much to cool the air. But we are here every day. The building is solid and has been part of Sheikhpura for a long time. People know us because they have to come here. We do not put up posters saying we are amazing. We just open the doors and let the patients in. The staff eats their lunch in small break rooms and talks about their own families. It is a very human place despite all the machines and medicine. Every morning the shift changes and it keeps going.
