Biryani And Fish

Our place, Biryani And Fish, is located at Kurji More in Patna. We are right in front of Loyola School, so every afternoon the street gets flooded with kids and parents. It’s a very busy intersection and things can get pretty chaotic outside our door. We are also quite close to the Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank. We have been in this spot for a few years now. The shop is simple. We have a counter where you order and a few benches for sitting. We focus on fish and biryani because that’s what we know how to cook well. My father started this and now I help run it with a couple of guys from our village. We don't have any secret recipes or anything, we just cook the way we were taught at home. The pots are large and heavy, and it takes a lot of strength to move them around. We keep the shop open through the heat of the afternoon and into the evening. Sometimes the traffic noise is so loud we have to shout to hear the orders. We don't have a website or a fancy phone system. If you want to eat, you just show up. We use whatever spices we can get fresh from the local market. It’s not a fancy life, but we have a lot of regulars from the neighborhood who keep us going. We just try to provide a solid meal for the people living and working around Kurji More.
