Rainbow Carpets

The shop for Rainbow Carpets is tucked away in Katariya Estate, which is right behind Hotel Gold on the G. T. Road. It’s not the easiest place to find if you aren’t looking for it, but once you get behind the hotel, you’ll see our sign. We spend most of our days surrounded by rolls of carpet. There is always that specific smell of wool and new fabric in the air. The G.T. Road is always dusty so we spend a lot of time just trying to keep the place clean, which feels like a losing battle sometimes. We usually have the doors open so the air moves through, but that just lets more dust in. It’s a family kind of place, nothing too formal. We sit on the stools and talk to whoever walks in. Most people who come here are looking for something to cover their floors at home or maybe for an office nearby. We’ve got piles of different colors and textures, mostly just stacked up against the walls. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons during the summer, but we have a fan that makes a lot of noise and keeps us somewhat cool. We don't really do big advertisements. Most people hear about us from their neighbors or just happen to see us when they are staying at the hotel next door. It’s just us here, moving rugs around and chatting together. It's not a big fancy showroom, but we have plenty to look at.
