Bhagwati Handloom

You can find Bhagwati Handloom over on Aggarwal Street, right off Gohana Road. It’s a busy little corner of the world. We have been here for a good stretch of time, surrounded by the smell of cotton and dyed fabrics. The shop is filled with stacks of handloom goods that reach up toward the ceiling. It can get a bit cramped when we get a new shipment in, and we have to shuffle things around to make space. There’s no air conditioning, just a couple of big fans that blow the lint around. We spend our days showing different patterns to people or counting the stock to make sure nothing has gone missing. The floors are a bit worn down from people walking in and out all day. Gohana Road is always loud with scooters and people going about their business. We know most of the other shopkeepers on Aggarwal Street, so we often share tea or watch each other's places when someone has to run an errand. It’s a very hands-on kind of job. Your fingers get a bit rough from handling the material, but that is just part of the trade. We don't use fancy software to track things; we mostly use a big notebook and a pen that sits on the main counter. It’s a simple life, focused on the goods we have on the shelves and the customers who visit.
