Handtex

Handtex is based over at 203, Jatal Road, in the 8 Marla area. It’s a bit of a working-class neighborhood, and our setup reflects that. We don’t have a big corporate office. It’s more of a functional space where we handle our textile work. Jatal Road is usually quite busy with tempos and rickshaws moving goods back and forth. We’ve been here long enough that most of the neighbors know us. We focus on textiles, mostly hand-made stuff, which is why we call ourselves Handtex. It’s not high-tech work; it’s more about the feel of the material and getting the colors right. The building is just a regular one, nothing special to look at from the outside. Inside, it’s mostly stacks of fabric and people working. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just make the stuff and sell it. Sometimes the weather makes the work hard, especially when it’s humid, but we just keep at it. Our team is small, just a few people who have been with us for a long time. We don’t have big meetings or marketing plans. We just look at what needs to be done each morning and we do it. It’s a quiet kind of business in a noisy part of town. We are just local folks trying to make a living with fabrics on Jatal Road and we’ve been at it for years.
