Kotkachwa Farmer Producer Company Limited

We set up shop at Rajinder Kumar’s house, number 90, over in Kot Kachwa Khurd. Ambala is a good place to be, but the life of a farmer here is pretty much the same as anywhere else—hard. We named the company after the village because that’s where our roots are. Most of us are small-scale farmers who’ve been working these plots for as long as we can remember. We decided that if we pooled our resources, we could get better seeds and maybe even some better equipment to share. It’s not always easy to get everyone on the same page, but we try our best. We spend a lot of time in the fields, so the office is mostly just for the paperwork side of things. It’s a practical setup. We deal with the soil, the seasons, and the local markets. Sometimes the harvest is plenty, and sometimes we’re just scraping by. That’s why the company is important. It gives us a bit of a safety net. We aren’t looking to get rich quick; we just want a steady life for the people in Kot Kachwa. There’s a lot of pride in growing food for the country. We keep things simple and honest. If you see us at Rajinder’s place, we’re probably just discussing the latest prices or worrying about the rain. It's a living.
