S R Candles Manufacture

The workshop here in Shahdara Bank Colony stays pretty busy most days. We've been making all sorts of candles for a while now, just around the corner from Gagan Cinema. It gets quite warm inside when the wax is melting in the big pots, but you get used to that after a few hours. Some days it smells like jasmine or rose everywhere, and other times it's just the plain smell of the hot wax. We spend a lot of time trimming wicks and checking the molds to make sure things are setting right. It's a lot of manual work, honestly. People stop by when they see the door open. The street outside is usually loud with traffic going towards the cinema, but inside we just focus on the pouring. We have different sizes of containers stacked up against the walls and boxes ready for when things cool down. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out, which is just how things are around here. It isn't a fancy setup, just a practical place where we get the job done. The light in the late afternoon hits the front window in a certain way and makes all the glass jars sparkle. We keep our tools organized on the old wooden benches. It’s a simple life, making things people use in their homes when it gets dark or for a puja. We just keep at it day after day, year after year, until the work is finished and we lock up the shutters.
