Kashmir Carpet Industries Emporium

You can find us at M.48 inside the Hyatt Regency on Ring Road. Being located in a hotel means we see a lot of different people coming through the doors. The shop isn't huge, but we make the most of the space we have. We keep a variety of carpets, mostly the kind of hand-knotted work that takes a long time to make. It’s a bit different than a street-side shop because it’s much quieter in here. We spend a lot of our time explaining the different patterns and where they come from. Sometimes we are just sitting here waiting for the next guest to wander in after their breakfast or before a meeting. We have been in this spot at the Hyatt for quite some time. It's a nice environment to work in, even if it feels a bit tucked away sometimes. We don't really do the whole high-pressure sales thing. If someone wants to look at twenty different rugs, we pull them out and lay them on the floor. It takes a bit of muscle to move the bigger ones around, but that’s the job. The Ring Road location is convenient for travelers, and we get quite a few people who are just staying at the hotel for a night or two. We just keep the shop tidy and wait for the next person interested in carpets to stop by. It's a simple way to run things and we enjoy meeting people.
