The Brass Shop

You can find The Brass Shop over at 92 Janpath Market. It’s right in the middle of everything, so it gets quite a bit of foot traffic. The shop is filled with all sorts of items, and yes, most of it is brass. It smells a bit like metal polish in here, which I guess is to be expected. We spend a lot of time dusting shelves because the market gets dusty pretty fast. People wandering through Janpath often poke their heads in just to see what’s shiny. We aren’t really pushy about selling things. If someone likes a piece, they buy it. If not, they just move on to the next stall. It’s a small space, so you have to watch your elbows when it’s crowded. We’ve been at this spot for years, and the neighbors are all like family now. We share tea and complain about the heat together. Sometimes the lights flicker a bit, but that’s just the old wiring in the market. We keep things pretty simple here. There’s no big corporate office behind us, just a few of us making sure the inventory stays stocked and the floor stays swept. It’s a decent way to spend the day. Every evening we pack things up and pull down the shutters, ready to do it all again tomorrow. Sometimes we stay late to recount the stock, but mostly we leave when the sun goes down.
