We are based out of Mangolpur Kalan Gao, right near the police station in Taj Nagri. It’s a small workshop, and you can usually hear the sound of tools as soon as you turn the corner. I’ve been doing inlay work for quite some time, learning from the people who did it before me. It takes a lot of patience to get the pieces to fit just right. My workspace is usually covered in dust and small bits of stone or wood. I don't have a big showroom with bright lights. Most people just come straight to the workshop to see what I’m making. It’s a bit cramped inside because I have a lot of materials saved up for different projects. Sometimes I work late into the night when the neighborhood gets quiet. The police station is just a stone's throw away, so it's a pretty safe spot. I don't use any big machines, mostly just hand tools and my eyes. My fingers get pretty tired by Friday, but seeing the finished pattern makes it worth it. I’m not one for talking much, I’d rather just show people the work. It’s a traditional craft, and I try to do it the way I was taught. There are no fancy signs outside, just the number 298 on the door. If you’re in Taj Nagri, you can just ask around for the inlay shop and someone will point you here. I’ve been thinking about getting a proper sign made, but I never seem to find the time. It’s just me and my tools, working away day after day.
