Gallery Artfelt is tucked away at 15/48 in the Malcha Marg Market in Chanakyapuri. This is a quieter part of town, which suits us just fine. Most days are pretty still here. We spend time moving frames around or adjusting the lights so the paintings look right on the walls. It’s not a loud place at all. You can usually hear the hum of the air conditioner and not much else. When someone walks in, the little bell on the door rings, and we get up to say hello. We don’t do big speeches about the art; we just let people look around. Sometimes we are busy unpacking new pieces that have arrived in crates. That involves a lot of bubble wrap and careful cutting. The floors are kept clean, and we try to make sure the glass on the frames doesn’t have smudges. Malcha Marg is a nice neighborhood, very green and calm. We get a mix of people—some who are just passing by after a meal nearby and others who really know their way around a canvas. We don't have many employees, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. It’s a slow pace of work compared to the rest of the city. We like the quietness of the gallery life. It gives us time to really look at the work we have on the walls without any rush. That is just how we like to run things here.
