About Guru Harkrishan Public School – Education in New Delhi
The mornings at M-67 in Vikas Puri are always the loudest part of the day. You can hear the kids arriving from down the street, and there’s always someone running late. This school has been part of the neighborhood for a good while, and most of us who work here live pretty close by too. It’s not a giant glass building like the newer ones, but it’s got a lot of character in these walls. We spend our time trying to make sure the students actually listen and learn something useful between their breaks. The classrooms are always full of drawings and old posters, and there’s usually a bit of chalk dust on everything. During the summer, the fans are going full blast, and in winter, everyone is bundled up in sweaters. We’ve seen a lot of kids grow up here, starting small and leaving much taller than us. It’s a busy life, keeping track of registers and making sure the gate is locked at the right time. The staff room is usually a mess of notebooks and half-drunk cups of tea. We don't really do anything flashy. It’s just about getting through the syllabus and making sure the kids are safe until their parents pick them up. Vikas Puri is a busy area, and we’re right in the thick of it, just doing what schools do every single day without much fuss, trying to keep things organized.
