Arwachin International School

Our school, Arwachin International School, is right opposite the Gurudwara in Dilshad Garden. It’s a very specific landmark that makes us easy to find. Being near the Gurudwara means there is a certain sense of calm in the mornings, though the street itself can get quite busy with people going about their business in Delhi. Dilshad Garden is an older residential area, and our school has grown right along with it. The building has a lot of character, though it’s clearly seen a lot of use over the years. We have many classrooms spread out across the floors, and a small area where students can gather. The staff room is usually a hub of activity with teachers sharing news and marking their books. We don't have a giant marketing budget or anything like that. Most of our students come from the families living in the nearby blocks who want a school that is close to home. The walk to the school is pretty short for most of them. We deal with the usual issues of running a school in a big city—traffic, noise, and the constant need for maintenance on the building. But at the end of the day, it’s a place where the kids are comfortable. We just keep things simple and focus on the daily tasks that need doing. It’s a very grounded, local sort of place.
