If you drive down Bhatti Mines Road, you’ll find us at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavans Sawan Public School. The road can be a bit rough sometimes, but once you get inside, it’s a lot calmer. We’ve got a decent amount of space here compared to schools in the middle of the city. The trees on the property have grown tall over the years, giving us some good shade during the summer months. We have kids coming from various parts of the surrounding areas. The classrooms are basic but they have what we need to teach. We spend a lot of time making sure the kids are actually learning the material, not just memorizing things for a test. Sometimes the wind picks up a lot of dust from the nearby areas, so cleaning is a constant job for our staff. We have a playground where the grass is a bit patchy in places, but it’s large enough for a good game of cricket. The teachers here have been with us for a long time, so they know the families well. We don't use a lot of fancy technology, mostly just chalk and boards and books. It feels more like a community than a big institution. We keep the gates shut during school hours to keep things safe, but there’s always someone around if a parent needs to talk. It’s just a steady, quiet place for education.
