Classic Hair Art Beauty Saloon sits right on Bijwasan Main Road. It’s a busy stretch of road, especially during the mornings when everyone is trying to get somewhere else. I spend a lot of time looking out the front door at the cars and bikes going by. The shop isn't huge, but there is enough space for a few people to sit and wait. I put some posters on the wall a few years back to make it look a bit more like a beauty spot, though they are starting to fade now. My hands are usually busy with a pair of shears or mixing something up for a customer. Living and working in this part of town means you see the same faces every week. Some people have been coming here since I first opened. We don’t have any of those expensive coffee machines or leather couches you see in the city malls. It is just a regular shop where we do hair. Sometimes the lights flicker when the weather is bad, but they usually stay on long enough to finish a cut. I like the sound of the scissors clicking; it’s a steady noise that makes the day go faster. Bijwasan is a loud place, but once you step inside, it feels a bit more settled. I just do my work and try to keep things tidy for the next person who walks in. It’s a simple life but it works for me.
