Black Silli Parlour

Munirka is a maze of lanes and buildings, and we are tucked away at 1250/6. Black Silli Parlour isn't on a main road, so most people who come here are from the immediate neighborhood. It’s a tight-knit area where people live close together, and our shop feels like a part of that. We don’t have a lot of space, but we have enough for what we need to do. The walls are simple, and we have a few mirrors that we’ve had since the beginning. Because we are in a residential part of Munirka, it’s usually quiet in the mornings and then gets busier as the day goes on. You can hear neighbors talking outside or the sound of someone cooking nearby. We use local products that we buy from the market close by. It’s a very personal kind of business because we know the names of almost everyone who walks through the door. We don't have a website or any of that, people just know we are here. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just wait it out or use the natural light from the door. It’s an honest way to make a living. We spend a lot of time cleaning up and making sure the towels are dry. It isn't a glamorous job, but it’s our job and we’ve been doing it in this same spot for quite a while now.
