Umda Engineering

Over at Plot No. A-581 in the TTC Industrial Area of MIDC Mahape, you’ll find Umda Engineering. It’s an industrial spot, so the whole neighborhood is filled with the sound of machines and the smell of oil. Our workshop is pretty much like any other engineering place—we’ve got tools scattered around, some heavy machinery that’s been with us for years, and a lot of metal scraps in the corners. I usually spend my time between the small office and the shop floor. My hands are usually a bit dirty from checking on how the parts are being made. We don’t have a marketing team or anyone to make us look polished. We’re just a group of guys who know how to build and fix things. The roof leaks a little when it pours during the monsoon, so we have to move some equipment around, but we get the job done. It gets really hot in the summer, and the industrial fans just push the warm air around, but we’re used to the heat. We don’t have fancy coffee machines, just a local guy who brings us chai in small glasses. We take pride in making sure the parts we send out are exactly what the customer asked for. It’s not a glamorous life in Mahape, but it’s honest work and we like the feeling of finishing a tough project by the end of the week.
