Bramhanpuri Farmers Producer Company Limited is basically just us locals here in Shahada getting things organized. We are over at Anshuman Gopal Patil’s place in Bramhanpuri. It started because a few of us realized that farming on your own is getting harder every year. The costs of everything go up but the prices we get stay flat. So we figured if we work as a group, maybe we can get a better handle on things. We spend most of our time out in the fields or sitting around the office trying to figure out the next harvest. It’s not fancy work. Some days it is just about getting the right seeds or making sure the water is enough for the season. We don't have a big office with shiny desks. It’s mostly just paperwork and talking to neighbors about what they need for their crops. Shahada is a good place for this kind of work because everyone knows everyone else. You see someone at the market and you talk about the weather or the pests. That is how we run this company too. Just people who grew up here trying to make the land work for us. It’s a lot of long hours and sometimes the rains don't come when they should. We just keep going because that’s what farmers do. It’s not about being a big corporation. It is about keeping the farms in Bramhanpuri running and making sure we can all stay in business for another year.
