Velfire Farmers Producer Company Limited is based in Kurula, over in the Kandhar taluka of Nanded. We use Dhondiba Bhujangrao Marshivneh’s place at House Number 20 as our main spot for keeping the paperwork. We are basically a bunch of neighbors who have been farming these lands for years. We realized that if we pooled our resources, we might have a better shot at getting decent prices for our produce. Nanded can be a tough place for farming when the monsoon is late, so having a group helps us feel a bit more secure. We aren't business experts and we don't have a polished way of speaking. We just talk about seeds, fertilizers, and how to get the tractor fixed. Most of our meetings happen after a long day of work when everyone is tired. We don't have a big staff or any promotional brochures to hand out. It is just us farmers trying to navigate the markets. If you come by House Number 20 in Kurula, you might find one of us sorting through records or just resting. We deal with all sorts of local crops. It is manual labor and it is often messy, but it is what we do. We are just a local collective trying to keep our heritage alive while making sure we can still afford to plant next year. It’s a simple setup for simple people who work the land.
