Vishwajeet Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are over at house number three in Chimegaon, which is Nagorao Adhav’s house. This is where we run our producer company. Chimegaon is in Nanded district, and it’s a place where everyone knows their neighbor. We got this group together because we realized that we were all facing the same problems with the weather and the buyers. It’s a simple setup we have here. We have a few chairs and a table where we sit and go over the accounts. It gets pretty hot in the summer, so we usually meet early in the morning or late in the evening. We grow things like cotton and soy, and we spend a lot of time worrying about the pests and the rain. We aren't doing this to get rich quick; we just want to make sure we don't lose our shirts every season. It’s a lot of practical stuff, like figuring out how to share a truck to get the goods to Nanded city. We don't have any fancy brochures or big speeches. We just talk about the things that matter to us, like the price of fertilizer and the health of our cattle. Sometimes we have a lot of paperwork to do, which is a bit of a headache, but we help each other out with it. It’s just local people working together.
