Our office for Sahyadri Balaghat Farmer Producer Company Limited is located at House Number 32, which is Nakhate Niwas in Hasnabad. It’s part of the Dharur Taluka. This area is quite hilly, though the roads can be a bit rough during the monsoon season. We work out of a residential building because it feels more comfortable for everyone who visits. We spend a lot of time sitting on the porch talking to people who come by to discuss their crops. There is always someone coming in to ask about something or just to say hello. We don’t have a big corporate setup. It’s mostly just us with our notebooks and a few phones that ring too much. The days start early here because the farmers are up at dawn. By the time the sun is high, we’ve already done a lot of the talking. Sometimes we share a meal if someone brings something over. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don't use any complicated software, just regular record-keeping and a lot of face-to-face conversations. Hasnabad is a small community, so everyone knows where to find us. If the door is open, someone is usually inside working on the ledgers or planning the next trip to town. It gets a bit dusty in the summer, but we don’t mind. We are just glad to have a roof over our heads and some work to do every day.
