Our group is based in Malegaon, which is a village in the Ardhapur area of Nanded. We all live and work around here, so starting Nandigram Farmers Producer Company felt like a natural thing to do. We are just a bunch of neighbors who wanted to stop struggling alone and start working as a team. Farming in this part of Nanded is no joke. The sun is hot and the ground can be stubborn. We don't have a fancy office with big signs. We usually just meet up at a spot in the village to talk about what we’re planting and where we can sell it. There isn't any corporate talk or marketing spin here. We just discuss the price of fertilizer and who has a tractor available for the weekend. It’s all very practical and down-to-earth. Most of us have dirt under our fingernails and worn-out boots from being in the fields all day. We try to help each other out when the weather turns bad or when someone gets sick and can't finish their harvest. It’s a simple way of life, focused on the soil and the seasons. We handle our own business as best as we can, even if the paperwork is a bit of a pain. We aren't looking to get rich quick. We just want to make sure our farms stay in the family and that we can keep doing the work we love. It is our home.
