We decided to get together as a producer company because we saw that working alone wasn’t getting us anywhere. Our place is simple and serves as a gathering point for all the local growers who are part of our group. We talk about the basics like seeds, the cost of diesel for the tractors, and when the local trader is going to show up. There’s no corporate talk here; it’s mostly just talk about the weather and the price of grain. We spend our days out in the dirt and our nights looking over the books at the house. It’s a small operation, and we don't have any interest in looking bigger than we are. The focus is always on the current crop and making sure everyone has what they need to get through the next few months. Life in Kandhar moves at its own pace, and we’re just a part of that rhythm.
