Shubhangi Steel & Gift Center

Being right in front of the bus stand on Lapka Road makes things very loud most of the time. The buses in Mouda are always honking, and there is always a crowd of people rushing past our door. Shubhangi Steel & Gift Center is where we spend most of our day. It’s a basic shop, really. We have a lot of steel utensils because that is what people around here want for their kitchens. From small spoons to big cooking pots for families, it is all stacked up on the wooden racks. When the buses stop, travelers sometimes duck in to see if we have a quick gift for their family before they head home. The dust from the road is a bit of a constant problem, so we are always cleaning the surfaces. We have some plastic toys and clocks on the walls too. My wife helps me with the accounts in the evenings when it gets a bit quieter. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, but you can see what you are buying clearly enough. We have been at this spot for some years now. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning or anything like that. Just a simple counter and some wooden benches for people to sit. Sometimes the power goes out and we use a small torch to show the goods to customers. People come from the villages nearby to buy wedding sets. It’s a busy life, but it is our own.
