Vaishnavi Fabrication

You can find us over in Gajanan Nagar, right near the Umre Hospital. The shop is usually full of the sound of grinding metal and sparks flying around. We do a lot of welding work, mostly making gates, window grills, and frames for people in the neighborhood. It is a small place, and there are pieces of iron and steel leaning against the walls most of the time. My hands are usually covered in black soot or oil by noon, but that is part of the trade. We started this fabrication shop because there was a lot of building going on around here and people needed sturdy metalwork. Being near the hospital means we try not to be too loud late in the evening, but during the day it’s pretty constant. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It is just me and a few workers getting the orders finished. Sometimes a customer brings in a rough drawing on a piece of paper, and we have to figure out how to make it work in real life. It takes some time and patience to get the angles right. We do not use any fancy computer programs, just our eyes and measuring tapes. It’s honest work, and we stay busy enough with the local folks coming in for repairs or new railings for their balconies.
