Patel Trading Company

You can find our office at number 62 in the Nawa Bazar area, not too far from Jubeli Bag. It is an old part of town, so the streets are narrow and crowded with people shopping for their daily needs. We have a small space that we’ve occupied for years, filled with the smell of old paper and the tea we brew on a small electric heater in the corner. Patel Trading Company is a family affair, and there is usually at least one of my brothers or cousins sitting here arguing about something or other. We trade in various goods, so the inventory changes depending on what is available and what people are asking for in the market. The walls are covered in stacks of files and some old photos of our grandfather who started the whole thing. It is a bit disorganized, to be honest, and sometimes we spend an hour looking for a receipt that we just had in our hands. But we manage to keep the customers happy enough that they keep coming back to the bazaar to see us. Outside, the noise of the market is constant, with hawkers calling out and the bells of the rickshaws ringing. We usually close up early on Saturdays to go spend time with our families, but the rest of the week we are here from dawn until the street lights come on in the evening.
