Metal Rolling Mill

The mill is located on Bhawada Saran Road, not far from the Gurudwara. You can hear the sound of the machines long before you actually see the front gate. It’s a loud, hot place to work, especially in the summer months when the sun is high. We deal with metal all day, rolling it out and moving heavy sheets around the floor. The air is thick with the smell of grease and hot iron. It’s not a clean job; our clothes are usually covered in soot and oil by noon. We don't have a fancy office, just a small desk in the corner with a lot of papers and a heavy stapler. The floor is cracked concrete, and there are stacks of metal scraps everywhere. We work hard here. The guys in the back have been doing this for years, and they know the machines better than anyone else. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we spend the whole afternoon trying to fix it with whatever tools we have on hand. It’s noisy, dusty, and very physical work. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know we are here by the Gurudwara. Metal Rolling Mill is a place where we just get the work done. The trucks come in and out of the yard, kicking up dust and making a lot of noise. We drink a lot of chai to keep going during the long shifts. It’s a simple, tough business that has been running for a while now.
