About Gayatri Metals – Metals & Minerals in Nagpur
Gayatri Metals sits right on Plot No.-13, near the railway line at Kumar Chowk. You can always tell when a train is passing by because the whole place vibrates a little bit and the noise makes it hard to hear anything for a minute. It’s something you just get used to after a while. We deal with a lot of heavy stuff here, mostly metal pieces and scraps that come in and go out throughout the week. The ground is usually covered in some kind of metal shavings or dust, so we wear thick boots every day. It’s a bit of a rough environment, especially when the sun is beating down on the tin roof of the shed. We don’t have air conditioning or anything like that. Usually, it’s just the sound of metal clanging and the occasional bird that flies into the rafters. Kumar Chowk is a busy junction, so there's always someone stopping by to ask about prices or to see if we have a specific part in stock. We don’t spend much time on computers; most of our notes are written on scraps of paper or just remembered. It’s the kind of place where your hands stay dirty until the end of the shift. We’ve been at this plot for a good amount of time and we know the rhythms of the railway line better than anyone else around here. It can get tiring when the workload is high, but we just take it one day at a time and keep moving.
