Y Corporation

Y Corporation is run out of a place called Chandra Villa, which is at 75-A, Gadhia House in Vile Parle East. It is more of an old residential building that we have converted into our workspace over the years. Being in Vile Parle means we are right in the middle of a very busy part of Mumbai, with the railway station not too far away and people constantly walking by. The house itself has a lot of character, with old-style windows and a small porch where we sometimes sit to get some fresh air. It feels a lot different than working in a big glass skyscraper because you can hear the sounds of the neighborhood, like the vegetable sellers and the school bells. Our desks are squeezed into what used to be the living rooms and bedrooms, which makes for a bit of a strange layout, but it works for us. We have boxes of files stacked in the corners and a small pantry where we make coffee. It’s a family-run kind of atmosphere, where things are a bit informal and we don't worry too much about dress codes or strict corporate rules. Sometimes the plumbing gives us trouble or the electricity flickers when there is a storm, but that is just life in an old Mumbai building. We have been in this spot for a long time and the locals all know where the Gadhia House is. It is a quiet, steady kind of life here.
