Smart Choice Garments is situated right in National Market near Jalela Maidan. Being in Prabudha Nagar means there are always people walking by on their way somewhere else. R. A. Kidwai Road is a busy stretch of Wadala West and we see a lot of the same faces every week. The shop is filled with stacks of garments that we try to keep in some kind of order. It doesn't always stay that way when the market gets crowded on the weekends. We spend most of our time helping people find the right size or showing them different colors. The lighting inside is okay, though one of the bulbs usually flickers a bit. We don't bother with much decoration because the clothes take up all the space anyway. You can hear the noise from Jalela Maidan throughout the day, especially if there is something happening on the grounds. We open the doors pretty early to beat the main rush of the heat. It gets a little cramped inside when more than three or four people are looking at things at the same time. We don't have any fancy computer systems, just a notebook where we write things down. Most of our day is spent folding things back up and putting them on the shelves. It’s a lot of physical work, standing on our feet and moving boxes around. We’ve been here at this address for a good while and the neighbors are all friendly. It’s just a normal place to find everyday clothes without any fuss.
