Zankar Fashion is tucked away on the ground floor at Vithalwadi, right there on Kalbadevi Road. If you know the area, you know how busy it gets around here with all the traffic and people moving about. We’ve been at No. 45/51 for a good bit now. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes with all the clothes and boxes piled up in the corners, but we manage. The street outside is always noisy, which is just part of being in Kalbadevi. We spend most of our mornings unpacking deliveries and sorting through different fabrics. Sometimes the air conditioning acts up, so we just open the door and let the street air in, even if it is a bit hot. We aren't trying to be some high-end boutique you see in magazines. We just sell clothes that people actually want to wear. Most of our customers are from around the neighborhood or folks who work nearby. We recognize a lot of the faces that walk in. It’s mostly just us trying to keep things tidy and helping people find their size. The floor is a bit worn out from all the walking, but it shows we’ve been busy. Sometimes we get behind on the paperwork because the shop gets full of people all at once. It’s a bit chaotic, but we like the energy. We’ve been part of this street for years and do not really plan on moving anywhere else.
