Vital Flavours & Frangrances

Being located at 118 Shivam Industrial Estate, right near the Govandi Station Road, means we are always hearing the trains go by. At Vital Flavours & Frangrances, the air inside our unit always smells a bit strange because of all the different scents we are mixing. One hour it might smell like oranges and the next it smells like some kind of heavy perfume. It’s a bit of a weird job if you think about it, just blending liquids in vats all day. The Deonar area is always bustling, and getting to work through the morning crowd at the station is a task in itself. We have these shelves lined with little glass bottles and plastic jugs, all labeled with numbers and names that only we really understand. It’s not a glamorous place; the floors are concrete and the lighting is just those long fluorescent tubes that flicker sometimes. We spend a lot of time cleaning the equipment because you can't have one smell mixing with the next one. The paperwork is always piled up on the small desk in the corner where the fan doesn't quite reach. We just go through the motions of measuring, pouring, and bottling until the shift ends. It’s quiet work mostly, except for the noise from the street and the occasional hiss of a valve being opened. Most of the time we just want to get the batches done before the evening rush starts.
