We are up on the sixth floor of the Cotton Exchange Building. If you know Kalbadevi Road, you know how busy it gets around here. Our office at No. 619 isn't fancy or anything, just a place where we handle all the import and export paperwork every day. It’s usually pretty loud with the traffic outside and the phones ringing constantly. Most of the time, the desks are covered in documents and shipping manifests. We spend a lot of our hours talking to customs agents and trying to make sure everything moves on time. It is a lot of back and forth, really. Some days the lift in this old building takes forever, so we end up walking or just waiting around chatting with the neighbors. There is a small tea stall just around the corner that we go to when things get too hectic. We have been in this spot for quite a while now and we have seen the street change quite a bit over the years. We are just a small team trying to keep things organized in a market that never really stops moving. It’s not a glamorous job, mostly just checking numbers and making sure the crates get where they need to go. Sometimes the monsoon makes it hard to get deliveries in, but we manage. We just keep our heads down and get the work done right here in the heart of the city.
