Vidhi Apparels

Vidhi Apparels is located at Laxmi Niwas Building, number 40, which is right across from the Elphinstone Station. If you’re a commuter, you probably pass by us every day without realizing it. The building is one of those older ones that has a lot of character, but also a lot of stairs to climb. You can hear the trains arriving and the announcements from the platform all day long. It’s a very Mumbai kind of sound that we've just gotten used to. Inside, we are mostly focused on making apparel. We have sewing machines set up and there’s usually a pile of finished shirts or dresses waiting to be bagged and sent out. The space is a bit tight, as most places near the station are, but we make it work. There’s a constant hum of activity from the machines. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that; we just focus on the sewing and the patterns. Sometimes we have to move the tables around just to find enough floor space to cut the fabric when the new rolls arrive. It gets a bit humid in the monsoon, but we just keep the windows shut and keep working through it. Our neighbors in the building are mostly other small businesses, so it’s a friendly enough atmosphere. We aren't trying to be some giant company, just trying to do a decent job with the clothes.
