Vamans Fashion is located over by Shivaji Park, near the Chitrakar Ketkar area. It is a nice part of town, though it gets quite busy on the weekends. Our shop is full of fabric rolls and half-finished clothes hanging on racks. You can usually hear the sound of sewing machines humming in the back. We do not have those bright, shining mannequins you see in the big malls. Instead, we have got piles of cloth and measuring tapes draped over chairs. It is a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are inside at the same time. We have been at this Shivaji Park spot for years, and we have seen the neighborhood change a lot. But inside our shop, things stay pretty much the same. There is a specific smell of new fabric and steam from the iron that always hangs in the air. We spend a lot of time just marking patterns with chalk and talking to people about what they want to wear. It is not glamorous, but it is what we do. People drop by after a walk in the park to check on their orders or just to see what new material we have got in. we do not have a big marketing team or anything like that. It is just us, some needles, thread, and a lot of work. We stay busy enough just by being here and doing the work for whoever needs sewing done. It is our daily routine.
