Ummed Jewellers

If you walk down Mambadevi Road, you know how crowded Dagina Bazar gets. It’s a lot of noise and people pushing past each other. Our shop, Ummed Jewellers, is at number 36. It’s a small space, but we have managed to fit everything we need inside. My father used to sit in the same spot where I sit now. The glass counters are a bit old and have some scratches, but they hold the items just fine. We spend a lot of time looking through small magnifying glasses and weighing things on the scale. Sometimes the light isn't great, but we know our way around the shop even in the dark. It’s not just about selling things; it’s about the people who come in. Some families have been coming to us for three generations. They sit on the small stools, have a bit of water, and talk about their kids before even looking at the gold. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know the trade. Most days are slow until the afternoon hits, then it’s a rush. We don't use a lot of fancy technology here. We still write many things down in the big red ledger books. It feels more real that way. It is just a simple life in the heart of the jewelry market, keeping things honest and working hard. We might not have the brightest lights in the street, but we’re always here.
