Udaya Lakshmi Fashions

Our shop is on the ground floor of Krishna Mai Apartments. We are right on I D Patel Road in Goregaon East. It is a residential area so we see a lot of the same faces every day. Udaya Lakshmi Fashions isn't a massive store. It is a small, cozy space where we keep our collection of clothes. Being in Mumbai means there is always something happening outside our door. We like being on the ground floor because people can just see us through the window and walk right in. We don't spend much on decorations. We think the clothes should speak for themselves. Most of the time it is just us folding things or chatting with the ladies from the apartments upstairs. We have a few racks and a small trial room that we built ourselves. It is not perfect but it works. We deal with everyday fashion that people can actually wear. We don't follow all those high-end trends that don't make sense for real life. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the door during monsoon so we have to put a towel down. It is a small business and we put a lot of our own time into it. We don't have a big office or a boss in a suit. It is just us here in Goregaon doing what we know.
