Trendy Girl

We’ve been running Trendy Girl out of this small room in Samta Chawl for a while now. It is Room Number 1, right on Bazent Street in Khotwadi. If you know the Santacruz West area, you probably know the Jai Ambe Mandir. We are located directly opposite that temple, so it is quite easy to find us even on the busiest days when the street is crowded with people. The shop isn't some big, air-conditioned mall store with glass windows. It’s a real local spot where we keep a lot of different clothes and accessories for girls. Most mornings, we are busy unpacking bundles of new stock or rearranging the hangers to make space for more dresses. The walls are pretty much covered with items from floor to ceiling. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, but we have a small fan that keeps things moving. We don’t have a lot of staff, usually just one or two of us here to help anyone who walks in. People from the neighborhood stop by after visiting the temple, or they just drop in while they’re out shopping for the family. We like the vibe of Khotwadi because everyone knows everyone else. We spend a lot of time chatting with regulars about what’s going on in the street while we help them pick out something nice. It is just a simple, honest business where we try to have a good variety of things without making a big fuss about it.
