Tirupati General Store

Tirupati General Store is located right at Grant Road, in the 1st Cross area of Joban Putra Compound. We are pretty easy to find because we are directly opposite the fire brigade and not far from the Bmc Offic. Being near the fire station means it gets pretty loud with the sirens sometimes, but we don't mind. We sell all the usual things you’d expect from a local shop. It’s a small space and we have stuff stacked all the way to the ceiling. If you need something, you usually have to ask because it might be hidden behind a box of soap or some packets of biscuits. We open early in the morning and stay open until fairly late because people always forget they need milk or matches at the last minute. The floor is a bit worn down from everyone walking in and out all day. We know most of the people who live in the compound by their first names. It’s not a supermarket, so we don't have those plastic baskets or fancy lights. We just use a paper notebook to keep track of things. Sometimes the cat from next door comes in to sleep on the counter. It’s just a regular neighborhood shop where you can grab what you need and have a quick chat. We've been here for years and the shelves are always a bit of a jumble, but we like it that way.
