Three Wise Men

We’ve been here at Shop 123 in the Sujata Building for a good while now. Most people know the spot because it’s right opposite the Santacruz Police Station. If you’re around Santacruz West, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times without thinking much of it. It’s just how things are in this part of Mumbai. We open up every day, deal with the usual crowd, and watch the traffic crawl by outside. The building itself has its own character, a bit old but it stays standing. Being near the police station means it’s a pretty recognizable landmark for anyone trying to find us. We don’t do anything too fancy. It’s just a place where people end up when they’re in this neck of the woods. Sometimes the rain gets a bit much, or the humidity hits hard, but the doors stay open. We see all sorts of folks coming through, some regulars who live nearby and others just passing through the busy lanes of Santacruz. It’s not a quiet area, that’s for sure. There’s always some noise from the street or people shouting for rickshaws. We just keep things moving along. Nothing complicated about it. We’ve got our routine down, and the staff knows the regulars by name mostly. It’s a bit cramped at times, but that’s just Mumbai for you. We try to keep things simple and just get on with the day’s work without making a big fuss about anything.
