The India Welknown Cloth Depot

The India Welknown Cloth Depot sits right in the middle of Lohar Chawl in Mumbai. If you know the area, you know how busy it gets with all the people and carts moving around. Our shop is in the Lalsingh Mansingh Building, specifically at Shop 4/6. It’s an old building with a lot of character and thick walls. Inside, it is mostly just stacks and stacks of different fabrics. We spend a lot of time measuring out lengths of cloth and cutting them for people who walk in. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze because we try to keep so much variety on hand. The address is Shop 4/6 Lalsingh Mansingh Building/6, Lohar Chawl, Lohar Chawl, Mumbai - 400002. You can hear the noise from the street all day long, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We aren't trying to be a modern boutique or anything like that. It’s just a traditional cloth depot where the focus is on the material itself. We have rolls of cotton, synthetics, and whatever else comes in from the suppliers. Sometimes the light isn't the best in the back corners, but we know where everything is kept. It’s a family-run kind of vibe where we just get on with the work. People come here because they know the location and they know we usually have what they need for their tailoring projects. We just keep our heads down and keep the fabric moving out the door.
