You’ll find us on the ground floor of number 36 Ebrahim Mohamed Merchant street. It’s one of those old parts of the city where the buildings are packed tight and the streets are always crowded with handcarts and delivery vans. Our office is a simple one, right on the street level, so we see everything that goes on outside from our front window. We deal with international trade, which basically means a lot of boxes, a lot of shipping labels, and a lot of time spent on the telephone. The space is a bit dark because the building is old, and we have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling. It’s not a showroom; it’s a working office. We often have crates sitting right by the entrance waiting to be picked up by the transporters. Taherally International has been operating from this spot for quite some time, and we like the grit and energy of the area. There’s a tea stall just a few doors down where we get our morning chai, and the guys there know exactly how we like it. We don’t have a website that’s updated every day or a social media manager. We just handle the orders as they come in and make sure the goods get on the right ships. It’s a practical business built on knowing people and keeping your word. Sometimes it gets overwhelming when three shipments arrive at once, but we just move the boxes and get through it.
