You can find Swastik Masala over at unit 11 in the Onkar Indl. Estate. Kanjurmarg (W) is a busy hub, and our little corner of it is always filled with the scent of different spices being processed. It’s a strong smell that sticks to your hair and clothes, but we don’t even notice it anymore. The industrial estate is a bit old, and our unit has its quirks, like a door that sticks in the rain and floors that need constant sweeping. We do a lot of the work by hand, from checking the quality of the raw spices to sealing the final packets. It is a noisy place when the grinders are running, so we usually have to shout to hear each other over the machines. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees; we’re just a small crew that knows how to handle masala. Every day is about the same routine of unloading sacks, processing what’s inside, and then packing it up for the local markets. We have a wooden desk in the corner where we keep the ledger and the phone. It gets messy during the peak season when everyone wants their orders at once. We don't have a fancy reception area or anything like that. If you come to see us, you’ll likely find us in the middle of the work floor with aprons on. It’s honest work and we like being part of the Kanjurmarg community.
