Being right here at 3/14-A in Shivaji Market means there is never a quiet moment. If you know the area near Crawford Market, you know how it is. The noise of carts, people shouting, and the constant smell of everything being sold at once. We’ve been tucked away in this spot for quite some time now. Our space is cramped, packed to the ceiling with whatever we’re moving that week. We do exports, which mostly means a lot of shouting into phones and checking lists twice. The name always makes me chuckle a bit because there’s nothing very fancy about our office. It’s mostly just hard work and sweat. We have to navigate the narrow lanes every single day, dodging people and other workers. My desk is covered in old receipts and a half-eaten lunch more often than not. We know all the neighbors, the guy selling fruit and the one who fixes the scales. We talk about the market prices and the rain. When a big shipment is ready, everyone has to chip in to get it out to the main road because the trucks can't get all the way in. It’s a lot of back and forth, but we’re used to it. We just do our bit and hope the port isn't too backed up. That’s just life at Super Status Exports Co. in the middle of the market.
