Sugar Cane

We are tucked away in the Jay Gopal Industrial Estate in Dadar West. It’s unit 332 and 510. If you know Bhavani Shankar Road, you know it gets incredibly crowded with trucks and people moving things. Being in an industrial estate means there is always a lot of banging and humming from machines nearby. Sugar Cane is our business name, and we work out of these two spaces. One is mostly for the actual work and the other is where we keep the finished stuff and do the billing. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, just a typical Mumbai workspace with high ceilings and old walls. We spend our days managing the production. It gets quite sweaty in the afternoons, but we have a few fans going. Dadar is the heart of the city for us, so everything is close by, which helps when we need to find parts or get something delivered quickly. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to write fancy stuff about us. It’s just us and the machines. Sometimes we have to work through the night if a big order is late. The lift in the building is old and slow, so we end up taking the stairs a lot. It keeps us moving. We’ve been here long enough that we know all the other shop owners in the estate. It’s a tight community of people just trying to earn a living.
