We are way up on the 10th floor of Bajaj Bhavan in Nariman Point. Even though it’s a big building, our office for Sri Mahalaxmi Exim Global is pretty modest. We have a couple of desks, a few computers, and a lot of stacks of paper. Export and import involves a massive amount of paperwork, so we are always filing something or checking shipping dates. You can see the ocean from the windows if you stand in the right spot, which is a nice perk. Most of our day is spent on the phone talking to people in different time zones. It can get a bit confusing with the hours, but we are used to it by now. We aren't those high-flying types you see in movies about Nariman Point. We’re just regular folks trying to make sure the containers get where they are supposed to go. Sometimes there’s a delay at the port and then everyone is stressed for a few days. We usually just order some food from the canteen downstairs and work through it. It’s a lot of coordination and double-checking everything. We don't have a big reception area with flowers. If you come by, you’ll just see us busy at our desks. It’s a fast-paced environment but we’ve been doing it long enough that it feels normal to us.
