Our office is in the Paradise building, at 51K/51L on Bhulabhai Desai Road. It’s a famous stretch of road near Breach Candy, right by the Shyam Nivas building. Even though the neighborhood is quite upscale, our work at Srei Infrastructure Finance is pretty down-to-earth. We spend our days dealing with the financial side of big projects like roads and bridges. The office itself is full of desks, stacks of files, and people constantly on the phone. It’s a bit of a maze once you get inside. We’ve been here for a good number of years, and the space feels lived-in. There’s always a hum of activity, with people coming in for meetings or staff discussing new projects in the small pantry. We don’t have any of those modern, sleek office designs you see in magazines. It’s just a place where we come to work. The commute can be a bit of a pain with the Mumbai traffic, but being near the sea is a nice perk when you step outside for a break. The air conditioning sometimes struggles in the heat of the summer, but we make do. We handle a lot of complicated paperwork and legal documents, which keeps us busy from morning until late evening. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we just take it one day at a time. We aren’t interested in being flashy; we just want to make sure the projects we fund actually get built.
