You can find Parshwanath Novelty right on the main road at Abdul Rehman Street. Our spot is Shop No. 19. It’s a very busy area, especially being so close to Crawford Market. If you’ve ever been to this part of Mumbai, you know the streets are always packed with people looking for all sorts of things. We sell a lot of different novelty items and small goods that people like to buy for gifts or their homes. The shop is small but we use every inch of the walls and even the ceiling to hang things up. It’s quite a sight when you walk in. The noise from the main road is constant, with horns honking and people shouting, but that’s just the energy of the market. We spend our days helping people find that one specific thing they saw in the window or just showing them what’s new in stock. It’s a lot of talking and bargaining, which is just part of the job here. We don't have any fancy displays, just shelves full of items and a counter where we wrap things up. It’s a family business and we’ve seen the street change a lot over the years. Even with all the new malls, people still come to Abdul Rehman Street for the variety and the atmosphere. We’re just happy to be one of the shops they visit.
